Waterloo Region's Got Talent

Waterloo Region high school students not only have talent but they also have heart. Students from 16 high schools across the region gathered at the Centre in the Square on May 2nd to compete in “Waterloo’s Got Talent”. The event, featuring many celebrity judges including Farley Flex from Canadian Idol, acted as a fundraiser for the HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre. Pam Olayemi of Grand River Collegiate won the competition with her own rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Hero”, taking home the $2,500 first place prize. Eastwood Collegiate Institute’s The Muses, consisting of Katelyn Hagey , Rebecca McKay, Laura Meadows, Beth Robertson and Rebecca Smithers, took second place. Claudia Soto and Kleyton Farias of St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School came in third and also won the People’s Choice Award.
